Nintendo's Wii Fit Under Fire Over Body Mass Index

As with any nomogramic body assessment scale, the Body Mass Index (or BMI) has its limitations. Nintendo's Wii Fit has recently been criticized for using this scale to assess the fatness of its users. My take on it...of the millions of users of Wii Fit program, a small percentage will be mis-categorized as 'obese' or 'fat'. This translates into thousands of individuals, however. These are the ones we hear about. A tip: Use several different measures to assess your body characteristics. Body Mass Index, Body Weight, Body Fat Testing, and Waist:Hip Ratio all tell us something about our body type!
